I was inspired by the action of seawater.
One day I was sitting at the Rockpool (a popular saltwater lagoon for swimming) on the Strand in Townsville dangling my feet in the water. I noticed some barnacles and began to wonder how I could reproduce these in glass.

These "Beach" beads have a stylised wave and velvet finish. I have removed the gloss on the glass by etching each bead in acid.
And of course the Rockpool and Townsville is on the edge of the Great Barrier Reef so I have incorporated that into my pieces as well. These are my starfish earrings.
This bracelet has multiple individual "scenes" including nemo, a mermaid, an octopus, a jellyfish, a puffer fish as well as a coral garden.
This focus on the sea is reflected in the name of my business - Barrier Reef Glass Beads - and I will continue to develop new ideas that reflect my love of the sea.
